Rebuilt Battery Service

Step 1. Select the E-Bike Battery Model
How do I place an order?
During the first step, search for your battery brand. After selecting the brand, all batteries eligible for rebuild will automatically be displayed.

Once you’ve found your battery, click on the product to proceed to the order page. Here, you can choose the new capacity for your worn battery.

Click “Add to Cart” once you’re satisfied with your selection. This will take you to the Shopping Cart page where you can edit your order, calculate shipping, and apply coupons. Click “Proceed to Checkout,” enter your contact details, and finalize your order by clicking “Checkout.”

You will then receive detailed shipping instructions via a blue link in your Order Confirmation Email.

I can’t find my battery—can you still rebuild it?
Even if your battery is not listed, we may still be able to service it. Due to the wide variety of eBikes in the U.S., some models may not yet be included.

If you fill out the Battery Intake Form, we can usually provide options for your specific battery within one business day.

Where should I ship my battery?
After placing your order, you will receive detailed shipping instructions, including our repair center address. Click the blue link in your confirmation email, follow the instructions, and print your lithium battery shipping label.

You will need to create a ground shipping label yourself (UPS or FedEx), as we do not know the final package dimensions and weight in advance.

Do you need my charger or keys?
In most cases, we also need your charger to properly test your battery.

If your battery has an ignition switch, please include the keys so we can fully test functionality.

Can I drop off my battery locally?
Yes—if you are local, you can bring your battery to our repair center. We can assist you in person and help you place your order.

Why didn’t I receive an email?
After placing an order, you should receive an Order Confirmation Email with a link to shipping instructions.

If you did not receive it:

  • Your payment may not have gone through
  • There may have been a typo in your email
  • It may have landed in your spam/junk folder

If you still can’t find it, contact us and we’ll assist.

Step 2. Battery Testing & Rebuild Process
What happens after my battery arrives?
Once received, your battery undergoes an initial pre-test. If poor performance is due to worn cells, we proceed with the rebuild.

Old cells are removed and replaced with high-quality grade-A cells (typically Samsung). The original housing—and often the Battery Management System (BMS)—are reused. In some cases, the electronics may also be replaced.

After the rebuild, the battery undergoes a full final test to ensure it meets the specified capacity.

Can you determine beforehand if my battery can be rebuilt?
If your battery is listed on our website, it is typically serviceable.

However, some batteries may have electronic failures (e.g., water or impact damage) that cannot be resolved with a rebuild. In these cases, replacement may be necessary.

If your battery is completely non-functional, we recommend contacting us first so we can assess viability.

How long will the rebuild take?
EMP uses a lead time that includes testing, rebuilding, and return shipping. This may vary depending on workload and any complications during repair.

Typical turnaround time is approximately 14 working days, though this is an estimate.

Will I be notified when it’s ready?
Yes—once your rebuild is complete, you will receive an email notification with tracking details.

If you selected local pickup, we will contact you when your battery is ready.

Step 3. Return & Post-Service Information
Is there a warranty?
Yes—EMP provides a 12-month warranty from the invoice date.

  • Covers: Rebuilt cell pack
  • May cover BMS if replaced during service
  • Does NOT cover: Water damage, drops, or deep discharge damage

Battery performance disclaimer
EMP guarantees that the rebuilt battery meets the ordered capacity. However, actual range depends on many factors (terrain, rider weight, assist level, etc.), so specific mileage cannot be guaranteed.

How should I use my battery after rebuild?
You will receive instructions after service.

Note: The battery may not reach full capacity immediately—it will improve after a few charge cycles.

Expected lifespan
With proper use, rebuilt batteries typically last around 5 years.

A capacity reduction of 10–15% per year is normal, depending on usage.

Will my display still work correctly?
In most cases, yes. However:

  • Initial charge readings may be inaccurate
  • Displays may take several cycles to recalibrate
  • Larger capacity upgrades may cause permanent display inaccuracies

We recommend relying on real-world range rather than display percentage, especially early on.
